Wellgo is a decent brand but like all brands they have better models and one's that are. well, crappy. If there is any plastic involved RUN AWAY.

I have their "lightweight" aluminum pedals. Pretty nice units overall, I have some half-clips on them and they work ok.

I'm going to powergrips soon though. The pedal design looks nearly identical, jsut has some strap mounts on it.

I have some Wellgo pedals on one of my bikes and while they work they feel a little bit clicky like there are some bearing issues. They came with the bike so I am not sure whether they were cheap or not.

the pedals that come with the "sport package" with powergrips are some nice and sturdy (but a bit heavy) Wellgo's.

My lbs pointed this out to me after endless hours of squeeking, and futile searching. Said they have plastic and the bearings are done. I like them, but I figure they should last longer than 4000km. FWIW, Wellgo LU 928, came with my c-dale.

Just as long as everyone is not a relative...

My mtb came with plastic Wellgo pedals they lasted 1000 klm before the bearings were slopped out.
Replaced with alloy Wellgo's they were a lot better in every respect.

I use both Shimano and Wellgo clipless pedals. In general the Shimanos are a bit smoother clipping in and out. But otherwise the performance is very similar and the Wellgos perform just fine.

I don't know this for a fact, but I'd be willing to bet a small amount of money that many of the pedals you see which are branded by someone else (Nashbar, Performance etc.) are actually made by Wellgo.

Probably the biggest pedal co. Used to be every Dept store bike built in the last 1000 years had wellgo.

Now you don't even get that.....

Garbage except the money shots. Sealed bearings, chromo axle are what you want.

I went back to the LBS and I found out they are model # LU - 946 pedals. Does wellgo have a website?

Look here: http://www.bikexpo.com/vip/wellgo/

I use Wellgo LU-950's on almost all my commuter bikes. Good grip w/ any street shoes, so I don't need to use toe clips or special shoes. The 946's look similar, but are a little heavier (steel cage instead of Al) and they don't have sealed cartridge bearings.

They look like plain stock replacement pedals - nothing fancy. http://www.bikexpo.com/vip/wellgo/LU-946.jpg
Personally I've never had good luck with that style of pedal. I manage to bend them fairly quickly or dent in the side loop. I tend to go for platform pedals that look like this:

Odyssey Southgate (http://www.speedgoat.com/product.asp?part=42089&cat=240&brand=176)
Better grip and a don't have to worry about damaging them as they tend to do more damage to the obstacle than vice versa. My girlfriend had a set similar to the 946's but when her pedal was damaged on a ride I got her a set of the (I think) LU-313's that she's quite pleased with. She didn't want anything as bulky looking as mine but acknowledged the fact that the solid body was an asset

My 'bent came with alloy Wellgo's. They are similar to the alloy ones on my old Trek road bike. Those have served well for about 13 years with no problems. I suspect the ones on the 'bent will do about as well. I had Power Grips installed on the 'bent at time of purchase. I like them better than toe clips.
