I check ebay every now and then, but is there a kluge fix or a substitution for the top cog of a Dura-ace Uniglide? The NOS cassettes go for almost a hundred bucks!!!
For the curious, 600 top cogs don't fit because they made the threads smaller on a Dura-ace so you could use an 11 or 12 tooth top cog. So please don't suggest I have a 600 top cog polished and engraved with a Dura-ace logo, it won't cut it!:D

I don't know of a fix, but I may have a cog. Problem is, I'm not 100% sure, and I have no idea where it might be. Maybe someone else on here can help.

now I'm going to check over ALL my uniglide cogs, if I find one how much of $100 will it be worth: 1/6? ;)

Will a 12T from the infamous 1988 8s D/A freehub work?
I've got one. It's presently holding the stack of spacers and a cog on my singlespeed bike.
Have a bunch of other cogs from that set as well. Wear is somewhere between nil and trivial.
Got a proper freewheel hub to trade?

The spacing on the 6,7, and 8 speed are different. I don't believe an 8 speed 1st position cog will work on anything except an 8 speed setup. I could be wrong though.

Thanks for the offers, but I seem to have lucked out and found one.

My response was a bit 'tongue in cheek'. They aren't that hard to find, and rarely worn out.
