Just wondering whether a 1.25" tube fit a 1.5" tire for emergency purposes? THis is for 26" wheel.

Yes. Tubes are much more flexable and stretchable than tires and 1/4" larger is no problem.

It will work in a pinch but IMHO, when a tube is stretched it is thinner and may be more vulnerable to punctures.

Yeah, its no problem to have a wider tube than tread (unless the difference is vast or the tread is very narrow), but its better not to have it too stretched out. I've never tried it, but I guess it could work in a pinch. I would recommend avoiding impact though.

I wouldn't be as cautious. I say put it in and forget about it. If you get a puncture, you can't ever be sure it's because of the tube, so just enjoy life.
