Just for my own curiosity, why do you use a narrower captain bb? Does this allow you to put the timing ring on the outside of the captain cranks and on the inside of the stoker cranks and still achieve a straight chainline?

Great looking build.

Just for a narrower Q-factor.

The chain can be offset a little, as long as it's less than a chain width.

110 is pushing the limit of how narrow you can go with a good chainline to the cassette.

These arrived, while I am at work.

Stickers will be removed as soon as I get home ;)

Now, I can complete the build.

The black are cool but I thought you would go for the fast white ones...http://mail.yimg.com/a/i/mesg/tsmileys2/01.gif

Athena is 11

The new centaur is what remained 10 speed

I have the new (2009) Centaur levers on my solo bike. They are exactly the same mechanically was the high end levers like Chorus and Record, except of the click wheel inside with has the detents for the 10 or 11 indexes. That is the only part that differs. The 11s click wheel does have sharper clicks, which is nice, but I have to problems with the Centaur.

The ergos are improved on the 09 stuff.

I'm running SRAM Rival 10 speed on my folder with a 9-speed Capreo system with the JTEK. Works great. Only issue I would look out for is cable fraying. You probably want to change out your shifter cable about once a year.

Just womdering why you used CX-Rays on the front and not the back?
Is aero less important on the rear?
Why not radial on the front? It is not supposed to be a problem with WI hubs, but I could understand your wanting to not take the chance.

Aero is more important in the front, yes, plus I have a disc brake, I feel better with the standard DB spokes.

Yeah, pretty much didn't want to take the chance, and not much benefit...

uspspro, I hope you will be posting pictures of the build soon. For the past few months I have had to ride vicariously through the posts here as I recover from Laminoplasty on c3-c7. My season starts in September so please, please, please show us more of your tandem so I can get my fix in.

WheresWaldo: Sorry to hear. Fortunately, September isn't too far off :)

Anyway, here is a pic of us on our shakedown ride, The Mt. Tam Double Century (200 miles, 16700 ft of climbing).

Better get a white helmet so you can be stylish like your stoker.

How much does it weigh?
How does it ride compared to your previous tandem?
What was your previous tandem?

Thanks.

- Not sure on the weight yet.

- It rides great! Smoother, snappier, handles more like a single bike at speed, climbs faster, however the front end is a little more flexy at lower speeds than the old 300 pound steel fork, but is nothing bad, tracks very well. I really want to do a few more rides so that I can give a more detailed evaluation.

- Previous tandem was a steel 1990 Santana Arriva frame, with upgraded components (Campy 10 / Sram Mtn 9 mix), DaVinci cranks, NOS beefy Santana chrome fork (I snapped the steerer tube on the original), DaVinici wheelset (36f/40r White Ind Hubs [daisy threaded rear, MI5 front]), good Shimano Cantilevers, etc.

I'll bet you dropped close to 10 lbs.
Looking forward to your future report.
I am hoping to order one this year, just have to scrape the money together.

Nice pic. Bike looks sleek. I am J. Was the pic taken by a professional photographer?

Photocrazy, is a service that sets up automatic cameras at organized events.

When you run over the pneumatic tubes on the road, it snaps 3 or so shots of you.
