For whatever reason, this build seemed to fight me at every point of the way. Nothing came together easy with this bike. Let's just hope everything stays together, not that I'm worried. Notable parts include Nuvinci hub, Rack Lady Portuer rack, 24" Large Marges, custom deck from brandnameboards.com. Most parts powdercoated copper sparkle.

Damn ... I was gonna say that.
Looks like the NuVinci chain tensioner, yes? If you get tired of removing and reinstalling it when you need to remove the rear wheel (hopefully not often), let me know. I can make youa tensioner that will allow wheel removal easily. Now all you need is a nice centerstand, and you're all set.
That build is fabulous:thumb:
How do you get on with the Nu Vinci Hub? I fancy using one of those but I'm finding it difficult to track one down.

You don't really plan to ride that show piece.......do you?:eek:
That's really pretty, nice work.
Very pretty.
How are you liking the NuVinci?

Very nice. You guys are shaming me into doing something with my Big Dummy one of these days, but the more I procrastinate,(too many projects, not enough time,) the more good ideas I keep seeing here.
Keep it up guys.

The Nuvinci is only OKAY. I got it new on ebay. Compared to a Rohloff, well there is none. It's kind of like a Ford truck transmission to a BMW. Shifting is sloppy and the range is narrow. But unbelievably bulletproof, unbearably so. The infinite gear ratios are a gimmick. You still need to shift in steps because you can't shift when pedaling hard. I admit, I do fine tune my cadence a lot more than with a Rohloff, but I'm not sure if I think this is a huge benefit.

I have to say this really doesn't echo my experience or the Nuvinci. I find the shifting to be very smooth even under heavy pedalling. I do agree though that you need to shift in steps especially when moving into easier gears. I don't own a Rohloff so I can't compare to that, but I do know that with the Nuvinci, slipped gears are a thing of the past.

If you are in the UK, you will probably need to import it from the US. I got mine from Harris Cyclery, very pleasant to deal with and I even avoided import taxes (pure luck and nothing to do with any Harris did)

Well, well, well.
I had a pretty crappy day. But it puts a smile on my face to see a new Dummy born into the world, especially one with a little extra somethin'-somethin' in the personality department.
Any of you who've seen the Goat know that Goat 2009 is all about the darkness. Just wanted to take it to that place. Yet, believe it or not, I really admire folks who get funky with their Dummy. Such as this fine fella. Love the build. Way it make it your OWN!
Much respect. Ride that monster!

Gongratulations. The tree board really sticks out. Hobbit like at first glance.
