Utility Cycling - Looking for trike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have noticed a lot of trikes around here lately and am getting kind of interested in one.. Most of the ones around here seem to be single speed with 24" wheels... I see people pushing them up the uderpasses on the bike path ... Apparently the single speed trikes don't take to inclines at all or there are a bunch of weak riders in the area... Anyhow, I was wonderding if anyone knew of a multi speed (at least 3 hopefuly more) trike with 26 inch (at least) wheels and a chro mo frame ?.. I hate to limit myself to flat ground and like to sit up as high as possible (thus the larger wheels) so cars and all can see me next to them... For some reason all the trikes I have seen go for the smaller wheels and mostly single speed..

Worksman is the closest to that description. Keep in mind it's heavy and durable as a Sherman tank and costs as much (top end of the price range). In aluminum the next trike down in cost is the Schwinn Town and Country like mine (If you can find someone who carries them).
I actualy own one with 26" wheels. it's a single speed but you can get 3 speed hubs for them and they are easy to replace and install. basicly this neat trike was messed blue bt when I got it I noticed the rear end seperates. so I placed a 3 speed glider onto it. the rear ends apart right now being cleaned.
If you want i'll get the name off the rear end of it.

I will check out the Schwinn town and Country.. Thanks.
I ma really not interested in building one but thanks for the info..

You might be able to order one through your LBS who can do the assembly. To get it home you need a pickup, SUV, or Van as the T&C is BIG!:twitchy:
