carnage. Pedal strikes are already a problem with regular bikes in downtown Davis...

I know what you mean. I have a lot of hours riding my fixed gear on the street. I just hope my fellow riders can corner.:thumb: Or if they can't, they discover that fact while behind me.

I think I'll be too beat, but I won't rule it out. I will come watch for sure. That's a real short loop, I notice.
If I raced the 4/5 would this count toward my upgrade to 4's? I might race just to get another point. Still need 4 mass starts...

Whoa, thanks for the heads up. I might be out there for my first ever crit race. I was planning to do the July 4th crit but the cat5 was full and they start WAY too early in the morning! This one sounds like fun though.

I ended up blowing up and getting destroyed in the 4/5. I got 22nd, and went and collapsed on the grass and had my son pour water on me. But was I done? No....I entered the fixie race. I decided to go for it and ended up 7th. Next year I run a higher gear, I just couldn't get going fast enough to keep up with the winner. It was nice seeing rydaddy there having a good time. Now off to bed, I have a lake loop tomorrow and a team ride. No rest for the wicked.

Unfortunately no. These aren't USA Cycling sanctioned events so don't count towards upgrades. Just opportunity to practice.

Are there any pics of the 4/5 race online yet?
I ended up getting lapped a few times, but it was still a blast. I avged 20.1mph and 181bpm(I thought I was going to die in the first 10 minutes) for 40 minutes, which isn't bad to me considering I was riding by myself for more than half the time :P. If I wasn't in the back of the pack in the beginning I probably would have lasted a lot longer.

Scott Fischbein took some great shots. Buy prints if you like his work. He'll be shooting our wedding :D

I must have been bringing up the rear in that race with you. I was gapped after 15 minutes and suffered a lot.:twitchy:

That was fun to watch. I wish I could have raced but I was way burned out. The cruiser race was great and so were the fixies. Scotty worked his arse off... had an awesome fan base too. :thumb:
I hope this becomes a regular thing. :)

Hahaha, yeah. I was in the light blue TOMS jersey. I didn't know I could take so much suffering on my bike before yesterday. Makes me realize I could push myself a lot harder than I think.
Does anyone know if there will be a chance of another Twilight Crit this year?

They said it would be the only one this year. If it works for the City of Davis and the merchants in the area they will have four of them leading up to the Fouth of July criterium.

It was pretty exciting to see so many people show up on such short notice, and the races were definitely not slow. I finished in the pack of the 4/5 race and i think I ended up averaging somewhere between 24-26 for the race.
I was just really happy that there were no crashes.
