Road Cycling - Anyone ride with a straight handlebar?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

My friend rides on a steal Ciocc frame and uses a straight handlebar. I think he's the only guy in the city riding a straight handlebar road bike.

i had one...but switched after 6 months

it puts you in a much more upright position and that was much more comfortable for me when i first started biking again

however...with long rides...which was anything over 30miles for me...it put more pressure on my low back and was uncomfortable

i am much happier with traditional drop bars now

He could slap some bar ends on and a cheaper aero bar and have an impromptu TT bike :)

I've got the old Scott MB aero bars on my MB and love them, I have often wondered how they would work on my road bike. Seems to me the Scott bars would be the ticket for his use, I'm not even sure if these bars are made anymore.

Go ahead, plenty of the urban hipster fixie type riders here in the city do it...

Last week on my commute home, I saw a girl riding a Pinarello Prince with flat bars. I have nothing against flat bar bikes, but that seemed like blasphemy.

Are you sure it was a Prince?

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit after reading that...
