Just got my brochure for the 2009 Manastash Metric/Half-metric ride here in Ellensburg. There's a new sponsor and the ride is scheduled for Saturday, October 3. Hope to see a lot of you here for a great, scenic ride.

Oops - forgot the website: http://www.drier-ride.org (http://www.drier-ride.org/)

Ok folks - I just dropped my registration off. Only 21 riders so far and they're looking for more. You have until Sept 1st to get in with the early registration fee. This is always a nice fall ride. Let's get more folks for this.

Nice! I will be signing up with my wife.

We rode the course a few weeks ago when we were looking for a "dry side" training ride. Except for the 20 MPH headwind from Ellensburg to CleElum, the course was nice. Of course the wife just tucked in behind me and let me pull all the way to CleElum, so she had a great ride. On the flipside the trip back to Ellensburg was FAST!

We're looking at riding the route on our group ride either the 12th or 19th of September for anyone who wants a preview of it.

I have done this route by myself several years ago. It is a terrifically scenic ride.

Weather forecast: lows in the morning 34-40 F, highs 60-65. Going to be a cool start.

I'll be on my vintage red Gitane with a PDM jersey. Say hi if you see me. Good luck to all who are riding.

Cold is one thing ... forecast for SNOW in Cle Elum is quite another. Check out this forecast from NOAA:

Friday Night: A chance of rain showers before 11pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level 4000 feet lowering to 2900 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. West northwest wind between 7 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: A chance of rain and snow showers before 11am, then a chance of rain showers. Snow level 2500 feet rising to 4100 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. Northwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34.

I ain't desperate enough or tough enough. I'm hoping for a miraculous change.
