I was googling my Jalco GX-460 stock rims that came with my used Sequoia that I just bought and found a lot of negative information about them on the internet.

So I'm wondering, what is the difference between crappy wheelsets and nice wheelsets? I'm not looking to be a racer or anything like that. I rode 750 miles last season and while I love the carbon seatpost, seatstays, and fork. I don't consider myself a weight weenie either.

How long do you want the list?

Lighter- stronger- Less maintenance- less retrueing- and a better ride. Those are the main ones- but the last one may be down to each individual rider and what he wants from them.

However- not all crappy wheelsets are bad. Put them into a Good wheelbuilder and he can work miracles on a poor set of wheels just by tweaking them a bit. I should think your Sequoia wheels would benefit too.
