Hi all,

I recently picked up a decent Bianchi from a garage sale($20 :), but have no idea what model it is. After do some exhaustive research, checking catalogues it seems I'm not the only one who's had this dilemma. The prints in Italian... It's marked CroMor Dopio Spessore. My handy-dandy translator says thats Double-butted Cromoly, and the decals on the fork both say Foderi, but that name doesn't translate and I can't find it mentioned in the catalogues, hmm

I'm looking for the year, and where abouts it rates in regards to the line. Here are the specs, pictures soon to follow.

Frame: Columbus Tubing, Celeste, 58CM
Components: Suntour Qauttro/Modolo Brakes, 7 Spd, Downtube Shifters
Cranks: Quattro--marked Ofmega on the back, 170MM CA
Rims: R. wheel 36 Mavic Open CD 4 w/ Joytech 93C hub
Seat: Bianchi Celeste Color
Bars: IMT Mod. Modiali
Decal: Tubi Speciali Ronfati, Accacio

SN: 1E-0008

thanks!

It could be a Campione d'Italia, with a double-butted CrMo main triangle. The Modolo brakes and Ofmega cranks would be consistent with the OEM equipment on mine (see signature), and the 7-speed indexed SunTour shift would indicate late 1980s. The ride quality and performance are almost as good as those of the top-of-the-line Bianchis, although you pay a small weight penalty with the carbon steel forks and stays.

Thanks very much! I checked out the catalogue of 1985 bianchi's from the japanese version, and this is the only Campione I found. I found two other similiar ones in the 1984 catalogue. the Campione Del Mondo and the Campionissomo. Now if only I knew how much 260,000 Y was worth in 1985 dollars. My converter says 260k Y is 2803.32 O_O Could that be right!?

Why does Bianchi make their bikes so hard to identify? Also I found a code LH on the rear derailler. Anybody have a chart for Suntour Quattro deraillers?

We need pics to be sure, but I'm going to say mid-range model, circa 1986. Sounds like the derailleur (1995) is a replacement.

Thanks for the link. I bought what I think was the Campione in the electric pink color scheme in 1986. It was the prior year's model and priced about $500 at an LBS in Bloomington, IN. Only a 12 speed though. Stolen in 1990 and I don't have any photos.

T-mar, wouldn't you know, the link I have doesn't have a 1986 catalogue. More google searches for me. Thanks for your input everyone.

Taking into consideration, this bike's age and the few knicks they accumulate. As a ready to roll bike how much would you pay? I'm thinking of asking $600 and pretty firm around there

Well, now that I've seen the pic, I 'm not so sure. Those decals are more typical of circa 1990. If you want a value estimate, you're going to have to provide detail pics (including the tubing decal) and/or be more thorough in your description, including things like model names for all the major components.

Here's a picture of the decal: http://www.flickr.com/photos/abracadabra-/3731073370/

The components are listed in the first post already :)

Mucho Gracias!

now looking at the 90's models, it resembles the 91' Trofeo. The only one I can read that has quattro components.

What y'all think?

I'm still researching and haven't made much headway. I was thinking it might be a 91' Mondiale?

Anyone know or maybe a lead in the right direction?

Search is over. The model name was on the handlebars. Gosh, I feel silly. How come none of you
pointed that out?

*Edit: Still looking for the value of the Quattro groupset. I can't find the slightest thing on eBay in current or completed listings. Bianchi are like abberations, theirs not much of a part's trail
