have a chance to buy a mint condition centurion cinelli. i believe these were make for only 2 years in the mid 80s and are fairly hard to get. it looks great and i am considering it but 800.00 seems a little high for a japanese bike. i know some have sold recently on ebay but are gone now. anyone out there know an approximate value for these bikes? dont want to pay too much for one of these as they are not on my must have list but at the same time it might make a nice addition to my stable. joe

Nothing Japanese about it. The phugly lavender Centurion decal is pure American. The rest of the bike is Italian. What isn't Campy is darn pretty Ofmega stuff.
If you came across a Super Corsa in the same condition, same color, and with the Ofmega crank set and headset, would you buy it? There's your answer.
Would I buy it? Yes. I'll have $1100 in mine as a Ferrari red re-do, and consider it well worth it. And I don't spend that kind of bread lightly.

Windsor Professional. Not worth $800, but definitely worth some change nevertheless, and pretty nice bike to boot.
I don't think the Windsor Pro is the type of bike for you though, Joe. They're not particularly unusual.

I saw that on eBay. Didn't reach reserve. Not the Equipe I was referring to.

I have that exact bike. I bought it used in 1976 and it is indeed badged as a Centurion...Made in Mexico. It sports Columbus tubes, 100% Campagnolo and Cinelli components, and Chromed Cinelli lugs as shown in the above pictures. My understanding is that it was made by Windsor for Centurion, but I have no way to be absolutely certain. The one in the above photos is the first one I've ever seen just like mine in the 33 years since I bought mine. However I have seen a few Windsors that looked VERY similar. Mine is serial #1338. I doubt very many were made. That guy is still trying to sell his on San Francisco Craigs List. His asking price of $950.00 sounds a bit high but what do I know...I paid $300.00 in 1976!

The Centurion Windsor Pro's were a market failure. They were not bad bikes, just not accepted, the quality of build on the Windsor was tremendously variable, the design was sound, some felt dead, which I attributed to the torch work, some fine, throw on some Cinelli transfers and fool many folk. $300. in 1976 was a steal, basically a price to buy it for the equipment and place them on a nice Italian frame set of your choice.
The bike on offer, has the potential problem of as with many, it is worth more a la carte than whole.
A Windsor is a bike I would buy only after riding it. I do wish they had been willing to be less of a Cinelli clone in the lugs, color and chrome, kind of like a fake Rolex.
