Recreational & Family - Thanks :D

I Just wanted to say thanks to all of you for the great information on this site. I have been trying to decide how to get more cardio in to my workout routine (I am down 65 lbs from 2 years ago...w00t) and spend more time with my little guy (and wife).

Due to a motorcycling accident I cannot run or jog for any significant amount of time and needed a very low impact form of cardio. I knew bicycling was in our future but the little guy needed a way of joining us. I was tossed up between a rear seat or trailer and after looking through this forum and doing some research on my own we decided a low end trailer would be adequate until the little guy was older.

we are on day 3 of our trailer and have at least 20 miles on it already. The little guy loves it and my legs feel like they are on fire. mission accomplished.

We will be exploring Ijams nature center (http://ijams.org/) (5 miles from our house) all week and I cannot wait.

Nice looking fleet. They would go faster and easier if you changed the nobby tires, for smooth ones. Your hands would probably be more comfortable if you set the brakes lower like your wife's

+1 on AndrewP's comments. Set your brakes so that your wrists are straight or at least nearly straight. Smoother, narrower tires will give less resistance and are plenty capable of all family type riding with few exceptions.

Your boy looks great in that trailer. Don't store the trailer in direct sunlight. The fabric can quickly degrade and is probably not replaceable on that trailer.

gotta love the "broken neck" syndrome that seems to come along with those things.

On another note, your wife may find it easier to pedal if you raise her seat up some. She'll have more power to pedal if at the downstroke her leg is nearly straight. But, it will require her to come off the seat to stop.

we have the bikes in the shop at the moment getting all the cables replaced as well as a good look over and brakes changed.

little man is very depressed about it. he goes running to the garage only to see them missing and his trailer folded in the corner.

He is too young to understand they will be back soon.

He will be very happy when they come back.

I opened this thread because I was thinking "I used to ride motorcycles with a dude who used the screen name daffyduc". Sure enough it's you and the Mrs. and the baby (who isn't really a "baby" anymore).

I don't know if you'd remember me but I used to post on ETR under the same SN I use here, I had a yellow Ninja 250.

I'd suggest going & investing in a helmet for the little one (if not all of you).

we have them, we just did not have them on for the photo op. The little guys goes over his eyes while sitting in the trailer though. As long as he is in the middle I dont think he can actually touch the ground. even if it rolled. we dont go very fast with him anyway.

once he gets a little bigger we will be buying a skateboard style helmet for him, it should not push down as easy.
