So I decided to ride out to Greenport from my home in Huntington. Turned out to be a great ride. Weather was a little nippy but sunny. I left at 5am and arrived at about 845. There were barely any cars. Decent amount of hills. Lake Grove area the road is really chewed up for about 3 or 4 miles, very annoying :troll:. Ounce I reached Coram it was awesome the rest of the way out.

I highly recommend this route preferably early in the morning. :thumb:

Can you share the route with us? That's one of the rides I've always wanted to do from Syosset; however, I realize I first need to get my ride to Montauk Point over with if I want to be considered a serious Long Island bicyclist.

For me, Greenport is a much cooler destination. I'm not a Hamptons-type of guy, so I really don't care to ride the south shore of the east end. Plus, one of my favorite (short) rides begins in Greenport, crosses the two forks, and winds up in Sag Harbor.

Did you start with 25A in Huntington, or Pulaski Road?

Sorry guys. I should have included the map.

I took a series of back roads to 347 then to Middle Country Rd and then straight out.

The ride would have been near perfect if I didnt start having back trouble in the middle of it. Didnt slow me down much though.

Ive been thinking about trying that this summer. I would like to continue to Montauk point and back. Looks to be about 72 miles round trip to and from Greenport.
