Southern California - Stupid Parkers!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What's going on with all these stupid Angel fans? I park near the leaky faucet (Orangewood and Rampart). Yesterday I parked near the fire hydrant. Pulled all the way to the red section of curb so that no other could accuse me of wasting space. Turns out a friend later parks near me, behind my truck leaving some space. When we return, ther is a car squeezed behind me. No room to open my tailgate. The guy squeezed in a space so tight that he couldn't even get up against the curb. His car was a couple of feet into the road. I see motorcycle cops there all the time passing out tickets. I surprised this guy didn't get one. He was packed in so tight between our trucks that I know he had to hit one or both of our trucks a few times to squeeze in.
Today I park near a driveway, leave a little space behind figuring some dip will thry to squeeze in somewhere so I'm taking some space. We return and yup, some dip took the space. I'm surprised they didn't tow his car. He's partially blocking a driveway, maybe about 1/4 the length of his car is in the driveway!
He is parked so close to me. Not exaggerating, he is 1/4 of an inch from my bumper!...Another car about a foot and a half in front of me. Great! I can open my tailgate but it's right about his hood. His hood is about 1/4 of an inch under my tailgate when I place it in the down position. DAMMIT! This time I am not pulling up or moving out to load the tandem!
Shkrew it! I opened the tailgate, placed the front wheel onto the tailgate, then lifted the tandem onto the hood and used it as a ramp to load the bike! The driver will prolly wonder how the tire tracks got up there onto his hood and windshield!:roflmao2: Hmmm, worked well as a stepladder too on my way down!:thumb:
I guess knowing how cyclist operate, I leave room when parking behind others out of consideration. Just a note to ya'll, if you park too close behind a vehicle, then return to see Continental tracks on your hood, that would be me!:p

Many people are inconsiderate and thoughtless. Simple as that. When I was into car racing, the people who trailered their cars (mine was a street legal category) would always complain at the newbies who would park behind the trailer despite that area being lined with orange cones. Not only could the race car not drive into the trailer, but they often couldn't lower the gate down without hitting the car.
I made sure to leave space at a friend's house for a Super Bowl party this year, but when I returned to my car, the cars I had left a good 3-4 feet in front of and behind mine were gone, and different cars (beat up pickups) were there instead, with less than a foot each. Lucky for me, I have good parallel parking skills and my wife was with me to show me how much room I had (although I wouldn't have given a crap if I had hit either truck). I just wish I had some of these in my car.

Many years ago used to live in NB and parking down there is a nightmare... If some ****** parked where they were not supposed to, we would get a group of guys and move there car by hand..

The stupidity of the human race is unbelievable. Parking is just one of the manifestations of it.
They are looking for intelligent life in outer space. Why? There is not much of it to be found here on planet earth.
I parked my motorcycle about 8 feet behind a pick up truck. A Harley guy comes and parks between me and the pick up truck. 2 to 3 feet behind it. Well, the truck can't see back, and when he pulls out he will whack the Harley and knock it into my bike. I knew this would happen so I was still there when the Harley guy came in, I told him, and he moved.

All because they don't want to spend 8 bucks to park at the ballpark. Cheap *******s.

Haha! Alan offered to help me move the first car up onto the curb. Would have been fun but with my luck, the motocop would have come around while performing the procedure!:D

Apparently, the cuss filter censors URLs as well.

Well, you can go to their website, and they show many photos of parking crazy.
But there is one, #113 or #116, that shows a scooter parked near the end of a parking space. That is NOT wrong parking. If the scooter does not park in a parking place, they will get a TICKET. 2nd, and very important, if the scooter parks near the front of the space, further in, an idiot in a car will come and park behind them, half into and half out of the space. Then the car will get a ticket AND the scooter, too, for sharing a space. And the scooter can't get out.
So even the characters going around calling other people ***holes, don't necessarily know what they are talking about.

#84 also. If the person has a handicap placard, I believe they are allowed to park in the ADA walkway if the handicapped person is on the passenger side.
