I'm building my first fixed gear and started with the kilo frameset. I bought some Weinmann DP18's, a Cane Creek S2 headset and a pair of pedals/clips then my friend was nice enough to offer ordering some parts for me.

If you had access to a LBS discount...what kind of parts would you get/recommend for me?

I need everything except for the parts listed above so some guidance would be highly appreciated...
Granted, I wouldn't know the difference in performance/quality but I'd rather pay a little more now for good/high quality parts and not have to worry about upgrading or whatever later on.

I really need suggestions on bullhorns, cranksets, and cogs/lockrings.

Don't worry, I plan on doing something for my friend to show my gratitude <3

You already know you are a noob, hence "noob" in the title.

There is a thread just for guys like you: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=510358

It has YEARS of wisdom within. Check back with us after you have read everything there. Seriously.

No one is going to hold your little soft hand and walk you through building a bike. Read or go to the LBS that's offering you the discount. That's why LBS's exist. Really.

Yo!

I'll walk you through it. Get some omniums for your cranks. I'm going to put these on a Kilo frameset myself, and they're great for the price if you don't mind external bb.

If you want to do bullhorns, make sure you have your stem picked out first; I personally like the Nitto RB-021 or 019, but these have drop that a lot of dudes don't like, for comfort reasons. The RB-018 is a good bullhorn with no drop. Remember, these are 26mm stem clamp only.

If you want to use a 31.8mm clamp, your options are limited with the dimension flat top tt bar, or the profile design air wing, which I like bc it has a slight 38mm drop. Or you can flop n chop.
