General Cycling Discussion - Light & Motion HID .v. Jet Lites. Opinions?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have to admit, that the guys at Jet Lites have been incredibly helpful in answering my questions but someone else also suggested I research the L&M HID lights as well. Here's a link to a review, the only I've found that does any kind of group test:

In the UK, L&M are available but are offensively expensive. Where you'd pay $350, we pay £350!!!!! Jet Lites are not sold in the UK, though the guys in Ca who make them will export. Right now, I'm looking at the Jets, but I'd like a sanity check before I do so from anyone who has possibly seen both systems in use or who might have seen them in use on the trail at the same time? If you look at the link above, the Jet's have a really good spread of light. If you can let me know what you think, I'd appreciate that.
Second, are there any good websites you'd recommend in the US who would export and carry both makes in stock? I'm not looking for the traditional, faceless, company that takes an order and moves it. I'd like to deal with someone one-on-one who'll take the time to email me and answer my questions.

I use a Jet Lites system (20 Watt Halogen) and my buddy has the L&M HID. He wishes he had gone with Jet--lower cost and better product. The L&M is excellent, but definitely more cash and I think the Jet is engineered better. The Jett also puts out a yellow light that I think is more natural that the blue light from the HID. Both are very bright. I use a handlebar mounted head and the Jet has an excellent handlebar mounting system.
I also recieved excellent service from Jim at Jet. He helped me configure my system when I told him how I planned to use it--mostly commuting, but some MTB racing. His service is second to none. I did have a battery problem after using the system for about a year and he upgraded the battery and charger at no charge--just as a warranty repair.
All in all you can't go wrong with either light, they are both excellent, but I think Jet puts a little extra into their products and I've been very happy with my Jet Lite.

chuckfox - that is what I was hoping to hear. I've been in touch with Jim and we've exchanged maybe 4 emails on the subject and he's given me his input on the light configuration he reckons is best for me. I'm really impressed with his pre-sales support and where he could have sold me top-end, over-the-top, he actually scaled down my idea to a single helmet light. We compromised, and I'm opting for helmet and a single bar light. To anyone else reading this, it's that kind of pre-sales interest and not trying to over-sell that really impressed me. I like doing business with people like that!
