Hey guys,

I've been a noob to this sport for about seven months and spent those months training. I finished my first
triathlon yesterday, and I am pretty happy with my results; 1:40:12. Swim was not good for me with very little training, but nonetheless overall satisfied.

I would like to know what I can do for a, "post triathlon" workout? Should I continue what I have done up to the triathlon or begin a slow recovery phase back?

Woot! YOU ARE A TRIATHLETE!!! :thumb:

Do any easy bike ride today. After that you should be able to go back to normal training. I assume many of your workouts are 1:40 or longer so you shouldn't need any dramatic recovery.

When's your next race?

Did one yesterday. First one in two years (had ACL replacement surgery last summer). Only 13 seconds slower than the same course as two years ago, thank you very much 25 MPH winds the first 7 miles of the bike.

Went to the gym and did my usual lifting this morning (nothing too strenous). May go for a ride tonight, but the legs are a little tired from the running (don't do a lot of road running - I use soccer for my running fitness).

So far I have not had any training go longer or near an 1:40, just becuase my schedule does not allow for it. But I am consistently training on an every day schedule with two rest days mixed in the week.

I am also thinking of the doing the annual NYC biathlon, becuase the I can't do the other triathlons in the area. Timing and date issues. But I had a blast and I am looking forward to my next one.

I wish I could be outside riding the bike or doing something physical. I had two wisdom teeth takin out today. So no go.

As a rule of thumb, don't worry about a major recovery until you are doing at least Half irons

How far down the Hudson Valley are you. There are a few coming up in August in the Albany area.

I live in Hyde Park, just north of Poughkeepsie. My schedule is tainted though for the month of August. That is why I can't do any events in August.
