Hello to all!

I am a displaced former bike shop manager and have found myself needing to take care of my very sick father. As such I am no longer working and need to find alternate sources of income. I have for years collected hundreds of parts that I now feel are a possible source of income. I will be asking very many of you to help me out in listing and getting good values for these parts. I want to apologize in advance for this because the research I have been doing has yielded some results but my inventory of offbeat stuff is ridiculous. I have components from various manufacturers, but mainly I have old Campy stuff. The first stuff I will ask about are the vintage cranks I have. I had a customer leave a very old French Campy equipped bike in my shop and he passed away while I was working on it. I have a french BB (complete 68-SS-120), headset (only the top nut is a tange) and a steel cotterless 3 pin "sport" crankset with the original 53-42 alloy chainrings. I also have the 3 pin original Gran Sport Crankset (complete with chainrings) as well. The only other crank I have is a very used Triomphe. All have original dustcaps (2 with "patent" one with "brev."). Any help would be appreciated. I will get pictues very soon. Thanks to all.

In reading through the site, I want to apologize for the upfront questions in my introduction. I will refer these to the marketplace. Anyway more about me, I worked in bike shops for 20-plus years, then went into financial services. I generally ride a Legnano (Iv'e had three) and a couple of mid 90's GT mountain bikes (I-drive). aside from that I love music, camping and drinking!.

Suggest you search completed sales on ebay. That seems to be where many are getting full value out of components. If you don't have much ebay experience, either start the item at or near your minimum acceptable price, or put on a reserve.

If you can sell items as a group, buyers appreciate it and it can be less hassle for you.

If you don't like what others are getting price wise on ebay, you either need to hold onto the items until the market improves, or reset your expectations. The market determines value and right now, the market appears to be softening up.

Hey Tude,
I sent this message to you but me being new to this site and boards in general. I will post it here as well. I don't know how old you are but I worked for Spokes-n-Wheels for about 10-12 yeare starting in the mid 80's. I then left the business only to be sucked back in as the GM for Canalside Bike shop (we had 5 stores in the Rochester area) in 2000. I was really proud of the space we had on Park Ave.. There had not been a store on Park since Park Ave. Bike Shop left long ago. The company started to fall apart after some crap with the owners, and we formed The Bicycle Company, which lasted not more than a year. We were the last store in the Buckamns plaza basement in Greece which had been a bike store since the 70,s with the Greece Bicycle Shop. Anyhting ring a bell?
