Today I had a flat, and used my little mini pump to inflate the tire.. What a POS! it is a total wast of time.. I could not get the tire over (what felt like) 60-70psi..

Someone passed my and offered me his cartridge. one little squirt and I was done! I love those things!!

So now I want to get one, but there are too many to choose from, both devices and cartridge size..
can anyone tell me the differences, merits, and recommend one..

thanks!

i am sorry i do not know about c02 but i use a topeak road morph, compact road pump and it allows me to put well over 120psi into my tires with minimal effort. i know it does not answer you question but if you decide to invest in a new pump i hope this helps,

Get a unit that will accept the cheaper unthreaded 12g cartridges. Then, go down to your local Xmart and buy a box of 12 in the sporting goods section next to the air guns. Much cheaper than buying the cartridges from an LBS.

If a 12g cartridge doesn't quite get you to full pressure, then use your mini pump to fill to about 30-40 psi then squirt in the CO2.

Hi Sorebutt,
I use a 16 gram with a threaded end, Innovations Air Chuck. It screws into a small 90* fitting that is spring loaded and puts it in the tire. It's a good choice if your space is limited. It works every time! Had to use it this weekend because a gap in an expansion joint on a bridge I was crossing was much wider than I thought, actually (I didn't look!) and BANG, instant flat. New tube and poof, she's full. It's good to keep two or more with you. Hope you don't need it for a long time! Loose the pump!

Not sure about this, but dont they add a small amount of oil to the ones used for air guns to lube the guns internal stuff during use? I know oil and rubber are a bad combo if that is the case. The 16 gram are sure to get your tube full.

That’s the first time I ever heard this and I’ve never noticed any oil residue when using 12g cartridges myself.

Personally, I like the Innovations Second wind

It’s a mini pump that accepts a CO2 cartridge (12g or threaded 16g). I like to have a little pump to give the tube some air before installing it. I also like the insurance in case I blow my CO2 cartridges

The box of CO2 I have says nothing about any added oil. Nor have I detected any oil around the inflator after use.

I have used most of the Innovations inflators. I like the top-of-the-line Ultraflate Pro best. It fits both shrader and presta valves without an adaptor. It will accept any size cartridge, threaded or unthreaded.

I'm not sure about oil in CO2 cartridges. I've heard this many times. I use cheap wally-world cartridges anyway. I figure that I'll have saved enough cash to pay for my next inflator by the time this one is destroyed from using cheap cartridges. If you're worried about it, spend the extra cash and use genuine Innovations cartridges.

I got me the CO2s a couple weeks ago, very simple and reliable, very minimalist per my LBS, although I carry a hand pump too, but I have yet to try it, perhaps I never will 'cause I have the Armadillos on.
