My XT V's are getting pretty worn out — the parallel push linkage is pretty sloppy and the front brake is rattling a bit. The thing is, they still have a tremendous amount of braking power. I've seen passing references to rebuild kits (see this link: http://www.cambriabike.com/SALE/brakes/shimano_xt_v-brake_tune_up_kit.htm), including a mention on Shimano's website, but I can't find any concrete information on them, if they even exist.
I'm hoping someone here might know:
a) If these rebuild/tune kits really exist
b) Where they can be purchased
c) How much they cost
d) If they work
I always like to try to fix what I've got before I buy something new, so if I could rebuild these XTs I'd like to. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
