Ummm... Did she actually finish it? It looks like it started on the 12th...

It's very cool and I'm sure I'm not the only one wishing her the best!

They just started 2 days ago and won't finish for 2.5 - 3 weeks (according to race organizers' estimates.) Best of luck to her and all the other competitors. I was reading a bit about the Tour Divide, and it doesn't sound like a very friendly Ultra. No outside support. No phone contact for much of the route. And it's actually against the rules (#7, below) to help a fellow rider.

Rule #7: Tour Divide is a solo competition but racing in the company of other racers is permitted. Sharing of equipment or supplies and drafting are prohibited.

D'oh!

They still don't have the '09 results posted on their site, though. :(

I am sure the wheel slid a bit in the drop outs after all the miles and difficult terrain.

Totally. With a setup like that, she probably needs a brake and everything.

What is the front hub?
It's not a chub is it?

The Pictures and article are from before the start,

Front hub is a dynamo for light and charging gizmos like the SPOT tracker.

Do we have confirmation anywhere that she did finish? I've looked a bit but come up with nothing. Nothing but admiration, that is. :)

I know this is stupid but... I would like to know her ratio.

This is amazing. Doing this on any bike - even the most accommodating bike that was custom built for the rider and the terrain - is a life accomplishment. Hats off to her.

people do that on tandem bikes too? Something about off road tandem bike sounds dangerous.

She describes her bike here. 46x17. It's a Shogun 300 conversion.
Read through some of her accomplishments: it's humbling.

found this dead thread searching TD info. I have admiration for this young lady. I get the desire to finish SS or fixed. However I believe there are better bike setup options to accomplish the same thing. Id like to know her motivation to ride with that bike set up.

Interesting in the link provided I see she was DQ'd and relegated to the back for a course violation.

Impressive regardless and the fact she took that beating on that frame brings respect. vegan too? damn hipsters ;). I love them and with much respect to her and the TD rules I say tongue in cheek "free Deanna"

Kent Peterson (http://kentsbike.blogspot.com/2005/12/way-of-mountain-turtle.html) rode it on a SS years ago. Kent's a legend in the long-distance SS/FG world. Strongly commend his blog and writing to anyone interested in this sort of thing.
