I've been tinkering around with brandings for a while. They tend to be a little more subtle than tats. They also seem to be less mainstream than tats.

Any thoughts?

I do not want anyone to burn me.

The branding's not as bad as the gelding.

Depends what you get but the scarring process may not go as plan and your piece will get ruined.

It really, really, really stinks when you brand cows. Make sure you have good ventilation.

Definitely.

I scarrd an anarchy "A" in my arm in my wasted punk rocker kid yoof and now
that Im a bitter old man with stuff hanging and morphing weirdly, the scarttoo
looks like I lost a fight with a rabid badger. A constant source of embarrassment,
I need to make sure all of my wardrobe stuff cover it up all the time.
The Burnttoo wouldnt be any different.

Just put a subtle message on some clothing so that when the facts and/or your tastes eventually stop being represented by a body inking/scarring/mutilation it is much easier to amend the message for your adoring fans.

If it's a simple design, find a good artist and go for it. You can find a ton more info at www.bmezine.com (NSFW).

I would not do either of these things to my body. My fiancee is planning the half mdot tatoo for her foot once she does a half IM, and fill it in when she finishes a full.

It stinks even worse when you burn people. I spent some time working in a cardiothoracic O.R., and the docs use an electrocauterization pen to sizzle shut all the little bleeder capillaries in the skin and fat when they open up somebody's chest. I will never forget that smell. :twitchy:

Word has it that rubber-band neutering is going to be the next big trend.

Hey - now that you mention it - I know that too.

I had a mole removed & it wouldn't stop bleeding so she did the electrocauterization. It didn't hurt, but kinda grossed me out that I could smell the burning & see the smoke.... :twitchy:

Yeah, you didn't get the memo? :P

It's just something a little different. Just as permanent as a tat but different than one.

I'll take a pic of my experiments, just for you.

I got a circle brand on my upper arm when I was 17 or so. 41 now, and still love it. Better than my tattoo. Sometimes I think of getting another on my other arm. Celtic cross, or something along those lines. It is very subtle.

Scars from actual living are so much cooler than any of this premeditated dermal modification.

The front edges of my shins are serrated from years of skateboarding. Knees are covered with scar tissue. It's just so dang hard to get scarred up on the upper arms!

+1000000000

I have a scar on my left thigh from climbing the yard fence at 5 years old to bike to a neighbors when i was supposed to be at home while dad slept on the couch.

I'll have a nice little scar on my knee from my first fall on the bike.

I have another on my finger when my ex-wife slammed the door on me, when I caught her cheating online.

True! true! true! I'd say 75% of brandings heal up badly leaving a horrible mess of scar where your "cool ass" branding was supposed to be. :(

Ankh ya got anything better to brand yourself with?

Ok, on the realism front, unless the hole is big enough in the top, it'll heal all together (Ive seen someone with a similar branding) and look like a lollypop, or a stickman with one leg.

Also, does this particular symbol have religious meaning to you? Or is it just a "that looks cool". Because remember ya'll have a ankh shaped welt on your body for the rest of your life.

you should get the tat the same size and shape as that cross and if you dont like it then brand it in for a more permanent mark!!!

Hey UA, pics?

Now I'm all for an individual's right to do as they please, but somehow, I don't think that's what the 2nd Amendment had in mind.

But I'm sure that Benny Hill, if he were still alive and saw this, could have made good use of it. The poor old bald guy (his dad), wouldn't have any arms, and Benny would have pair of permanently attached gag props - "folded arms". How cool would that be.

Now as for that second pic, I'm not buying it one bit. If you look close, you can see it's been digitally enhanced. Can you just imagine the mental scarring you could wreak on young'ins with that. *"hey kid, c'mere, pull my finger"......OUCH!...NOT THAT HARD!...now see what you did!"*

She spent real money having someone make the branding iron for her.

It is about four inches square.

TechKnowGN

She musta really loved that box fan. I know I had one that kept me cool in the summer evenings of the 1980's in the days before my parents had central air. I loved that thing. Eventually the motor started to go, and it got louder and louder before I threw it out.

But I still wouldn't have it branded to me.
