Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Should he lose the right to wear the world champs colours after confessing to using EPO?
After submitting the post I realised that I spelt Millar with an e....
Depends when he said he used it. He could say he used it far before October 2003 and still keep it probably.
If his confession stands UCI needs to come down hard. Not just to punish Millar but also to get insight on how he avoided the controls and has been able to brag about "never testing positive." If threatening his rainbow jersey further loosens his lips, I'm all for it.
I'm a strong, almost fanatical, believer in the assumption of innocence. Nor do I believe in guilt by association but Millar's actions, if reports are true, has made life difficult for all clean athletes who point to their testing as proof of their non-doping.

Did anyone actually see the exact confession transcript from Millar? I still don't think that we know the whole story, and the French authorities don't really have a good rep for being objective.
G'day,
haven't we all heard Millars confession before?..."Guilty your honour.....but I didn't inhale!"....fact is he's a cheat...end of argument!
cheers,
Hitchy
Hitchy is right. He took EPO but only on a couple occaisions that did not coincide with his Worlds win? Gimmie a break!
He should be stripped of the arc-en-ciel. Millar is a disappointment to his fans, to cycling, to BC and all the investment they put into development.
Yes he did admit to using EPO.
According to Cyclingnews.com, Millar has confessed to using EPO to win the world championships.

G'day,
As Gomer Pyle woulda said...."surprise, surprise, surprise".

If he used EPO, he should be stripped of all his trophies and accolades. Actually, I think he should be banned for life, just like they do with the dudes and chicks that race on the track teams.

Speaking of Mr. Millar:
Millar offered spot in Amore e Vita
David Millar has been offered a ride in Ivano Fanini's Amore e Vita team, according to a Reuters report. Millar was recently outed in France for taking EPO at various times during his career, including just before he won the World Time Trial Championship in 2003. He is likely to have his title stripped and will almost certainly be sanctioned by the British Cycling Federation and the UCI.
"I'm willing to help Millar - and the Amore e Vita-Beretta team is ready to take him on - just as I did with Spanish rider Jesus Manzano earlier this year when he confessed to a Spanish newspaper," team manager Ivano Fanini was quoted as saying in a statement. "He is only 27 and is a talented rider who has won a world title and stages at the Tour de France and not just with the help of doping.
"Riders who confess what they've done should be helped and convinced to speak up, not punished," added Fanini. "By confessing how he cheated he's shown that he's a real man."
Millar has not commented on the offer, and will have to wait until he serves his probable suspension before taking on a job in a new team.

Should we take away Jalabert's World Championships time trial win in 1997 and Alex Zulle's World Championship time trial win in 1996. Honchar won in 2000, but he failed a blood test in 1999. How about Bo Hamburgers 1998 Silver Medal in the road race?
Should Laurent Brochard not be allowed to wear the WC stripes on his Jersey?
Lets take away Argentin's World Championship too. And Luc Leblanc's in 1994
We can take away Gianni Bugnos 1991 and 1992 World titles.....
And Rudy Dhaenens 1990's WC win.
Should Richard Virenque lose his Polka Dot Jerseys from 1994, 95, 96, 97....
How about Gert-Jan Theunisse's in 1989
Merckx tested positive in 1969, so do we disregard the following?
Tour de France
KoM, Tour de France
Points Competition, Tour de France
5 stages, Tour de France
Paris - Luxembourg
Milan - San Remo
Tour of Flanders
Liège - Bastogne - Liège
Paris - Nice
4 stages, Giro d'Italia
Super Prestige Pernod Trophy
How about Delgado's Tour win?
Fignon's too?

G'day,
Yep all of 'em!......if it is proven that they took a banned substance...rub 'em out...they are cheats...nothing less!...I have no sympathy for them!.......they have cheated the people they raced against, they have cheated the fans, they have cheated themselves, all in pursuit of a dollar. Well sorry, comes a time you have to 'pay the piper'......the sooner all drug cheats are shamed for the cheating, lieing, scumbags that they are...the better!,
cheers,
Hitchy
