24. I ran 5K for six years in middle school and high school very competitively and my first three years of college. I really enjoyed doing some 10K and half marathon on my own outside the school teams. Unfortunately, running (especially road running) combined with a bleeding disorder I have (Hemophilia A) resulted in some pretty nasty ankle injuries and constant battles with shin splints.
Now that I just do it recreational, it's no longer worth the almost annual ankle surgeries. I picked up a bike as partial payment by a customer (I am a mechanic by trade) and I started to enjoy it. While I don't get the rush I get from running, it certainly causes a lot less pain so I've replaced a couple days a week with the bike work.
It's a fixer-upper and probably worth nothing, but like I said I'm mechanically inclined, and it serves my purpose. I need to figure out what this thing is, do some basic maintenance, and find a helmet I like so I can get riding more. I started writing a thread on figuring out what it is, I'm waiting on photobucket to upload the pictures. :notamused:
