Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Hold Fast Straps

Anybody here ever use them? There's been a lot of chatter on some other boards, and some positive reviews. I'm curious...

They're straight, so they won't hold your feet tight enough.

I'd go with feetbelts.

don't waste your money. get some legit toe clips and straps. MKS steel and toshis, to be exact.

Yeah, but are Feetbelts easily adjustable? I ride with different shoes, and in my experience the powergrips/feetbelt style really only work well if you wear the same style shoe all the time.

MKS+Toshi on 3 bikes. Spend the money in the right place the first time, and you won't ever need to buy again. Toshi=heavenly

i have toe clips and straps.. To be different shoes are fine. Most shoes are approximately the same height (in the toe area). At least my shoes are all roughly the same. Plus you can still adjust the width with the straps so the width of each shoe don't matter much.

If there was a "what will you be buying for your bike next?" thread, they would be on mine. I have the Soma toe clips with four gates and double straps, and I like them ok. Prolly reviewed them on his blog, he seems to like them.

Brig - Go with Powergrips!

I have power grips, and you are correct in that you have to adjust them for different shoes. They don't work well loose unlike regular cages. I've had to retighten bolts, but I think they work fine.

Totally, Brig. I just sent in my order, so we'll see. I think they'll work better than the powergrips (which I've had before) and will be more adjustable than the doublizers (which I currently run, also). I'll post my two cents once I get them and give them a workout.

powergrips have the worst hardware of any product i've ever used. these are also stupid, but seem less stupid than powergrips, and slightly less annoying than clips and straps. just go clipless.

I went clipless when i built up my geared roadie and my next investment will be clipless for my fixed gear. So much better.

I have yet to hear about somebody who doesn't like them. I'd try them if I had the cash. they look pretty burly.

I have had a pair for about a week now. I do have an issue with them but not enough of one to give up on them yet. I actually have had my feet slip out of them while I was doing a skid a couple of times. This was due to my foot not being far enough into them. The big thing is that your foot must be farther into them than they would be with clips and straps to deal with the slip issue. So far I don't like them as much as clips and double straps for regular riding, but I do like them much better for doing bunnyhops and jumps and ****.

I had previously used feetbelts and had a problem with them I've not heard of before. When I used them brakeless and was skipping and skidding a lot I had some pain in my right knee. I eventually figured out that this was from twisting my knee everytime I had to pull up on my pedal. needless to say that was not worth the benefits that they gave.

i don't know if i (or he) would call him (self) an "athlete", but his reviews generally seem fairly unbiased, and he has more experience with the tirck bike stuff than pretty much anyone. i mean, Milwaukee at least trust his opinion enough to collaborate with him on a frame build. how many people on this subforum can say that?

I think they are pretty new, maybe been out a few weeks at most. I read that they were prototyped and street by riders (including Prolly and others) since early this year. I'm excited to try them out.

im sure they work quite well, but with limited distribution and a short time since release, not hearing complaints isnt a great indicator of quality.

If you like fixed freestyling and/or short commuting buy them. If you like riding long and hard for recreation or otherwise go clipless.
