I've thought about going back to law school for a long time. Maybe the bad news I received today at work is just an opportunity for me to do what I really want. Believe it or not folks, I want to help people.

Did you just say you wanted to be a lawyer and to help people in the same sentence? :twitchy:

Currently working with the 400. I've worked with them all though. I like working with Sun Systems the most.

I'm certain we have an application admin opening right now, this would be Pro/INTRALINK (now) PDM.Link (immediate future) running on Solaris. The existing group has little/no Unix background and it's hurting them.

We also have a dedicated Sun admin staff, I'll see if they would like to see a resume.

Seems like with your love of couches, you should be a shrink or a casting director.

Grad school may be an idea too. I thought of law school, but my heart isn't into it. So, if I don't find any meaningful employment by EOY, I'm going to go for a M. S. in IS or CS. IS is more of what I have experience in, but CS is where I like playing around, especially applied cryptography.

Too bad Oracle is going to kill Solaris when the Sun buyout is all over. :)

When I started college I wanted to be a shrink. Two and a half years into it, the game Doom came out and I wired the dorm room's network. The light bulb, allthough very dim at the time because of pot, clicked on and I went into the Computer Science program. Man, I wasted alot of time playing Doom.

I'm sorry, but someone had to say it, man. I spent 5 years at Sun, and a few more before that working on Sun hardware and Solaris. Love the stuff, but Linux on the Intel platform stabbed it through the heart and punched it in the face several years ago and it's been bleeding ever since. Oracle will only accelerate the inevitable.

I wish. I manage a team of them and not a single one rides a bike. We run both Xe and 8.11 internationally at very high volumes. We are 100% microsoft platform, though.

We are an 810 shop moving to 812. I used to run an 811 shop. If you ever need a CNC let me know. By the way, I'm M@dM@x on JDE List.

A CNC is a computer dork who randomly double clicks on buttons to make an ERP system work. It's a highly skilled affair and most people can't handle the pressure of Web Client Exceptions and ER memory violations. Once you figure out how to generate table F0101, often referred to as Address Book, brief moments of clarity occur that warrant a 100k a year salary.

Does that halp?
