Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - The 500 Pound Thread - Former 500 pounders fall in!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

In honor of RollerDave's return and TakingControl's success, I thought we should have a thread for former 500 pound folks.

Here's a list of the former 500 pounders I know of. Please add to it if I've forgotten someone. Also, "former 500s", care to check in with your progress?

You can add me to that list if you like, I was once upon a time a 534 pound fella but after deciding that something needed to be done I am down more than 200 pounds to date. I have recently added biking to my exercise battery and am loving it, the whole ride (no pun intended) is in my blog which is in my sig.

199 now here. :) I float up and down between 199 and about 207, depending on hydration and such.

I will say one thing, I am amazed at how many of us there are. It is a great feeling to see all of the different levels of progress from the beginners (myself) who have just started the challenge. The people like Push who is well on his way (he's 109 lbs from my goal weight GREAT JOB ) To people like Tom (proof that it can be done) The commitment shown, the support from everyone it all makes the journey so much more fun :giver:

Rollerdave reporting for duty sir!

I can tell you, just the feeling of stopping in your tracks and saying to your self "Damn! I can FEEL how much easier I am moving! I LOVE IT!"....

It blows my mind, man.

Not feeling the steering wheel rub any more, that is a delight.

I used to sleep "in the altogether" because if I wore undergarments and I moved in bed, they would bind and hurt, but now I can wear what i want to bed!

I used to wear only jogging pants and super large t-shirts, and had a tough time finding cool t-shirts, but now I have a wide array of shirts with interesting things printed on them that fit me fine and I actually own button-up pants!

To put this as delicately as possible, in the smallest room of the house, I used to be unable to complete the paperwork at the end of the transaction that takes place there without assistance, but I do my own paperwork now!

I have a lap!

I hug my Beck, and I can feel how much closer I am to the most lovely woman in the universe!

Oh, it rocks, no doubt about it!

Never got to 500 that I know of. I'm pretty sure I hit 475 though. I didn't have a scale that would go above 440, and I know I lost at least 35 pounds before I got that "low."

I hit 153.4 last week after back-to-back 100+ rides on Skyline drive. I'm up a bit from then though...

The struggle never ends...

Now who could argue with that?

An amazing, and inspirational journey.

I don't know if you guys realize it, but I'm sure there are more than just me that think about you guys when I'm in a funk or just not "feelin' it". I can come up with all kinds of excuses for negative progress, but I can't rationalize them against other folk's success.

For that, I thank you.

Head on over! It seems to have gone quiet after a couple of posts.
