I am planning a cross country ride next summer. The ride is a supported tour (little gear to carry) and is 3,415 miles between May 10th and June 26th.

I will be buying my bike for the tour in the next few weeks so I can be training on it but currently have a mountain bike and a spinner in my home. I also am a member of my local YMCA.

I need to begin slow and build as I have not been riding any substantial distances lately but am in good health

Any training suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks

Work your way up to long back to back rides (100+ miles). You will probably want to be doing at least 300 mile weeks in the 2 months before you start. Basically rides tons and tons, but remember to let your body recover.

These are some tips for building up to a century, and might be a place for you to start.
