Friend had given their bike to me before leaving town 'cause she'd managed to loose the key belonging to the lock she'd used to secure the rear tire to the frame.
I tried a number of things to pop the lock... freezing it, hammer/mallot, saws of all kinds... but finally, what did the trick was using my car's scissor jack.
Placing the jack between the parallel bars of the "U" and cranking it up a bit I was gradually able to deform the lock enough so that it resembed a circle. Then, with a little tug, the bar fell right off of the "U" and the bike had been recaptured for use!
I did some minor damage to a spoke, but that was all... no great explosions or anything remotely dangerous....
now that i think of it. . . . kinda scary . . .
