I don't post around here much, mostly lurk, but am looking for some recommendations on some good races in the Midwest. I am currently a cat5 racer getting back into the swing of things after 2 years off the bike. I am a bike shop employee and work a lot on the weekends when races occur so finding time to do a ton of races just doesn't happen. My solution for next year is to plan a couple "race weekend trips" to some good races in the Midwest and possibly one that is a bit further away. I am based out of St. Louis. I am looking for good road races/circuit races or possibly TT's. If you have any suggestions of some races that are good in your area or that you have been to, they would be appreciated. Well run and staffed races on safe courses are what I am looking for. I race for fun and as motivation to maintain a high level of fitness. The ability to do so in new locations would be rewarding as it gives me a look at fresh faces and courses and in the past has led to my most enjoyable moments racing. Thanks ahead of time for your suggestions!

Ya I know stlbiking. That is almost all Missouri races. There are occasional Des Moines or Illinois races listed but I rarely see many races from TN, AR, KN, CO, KS, NE, IN, WI etc. All of those are states that I can reasonably travel to with enough planning.

It is a top-notch event in terms of racers, prize money, organization, and atmosphere.

It should be even better this year due to the fact that the Tour of Missouri begins in Saint Louis just hours after the final P/1/2 race ends on Monday. It also sounds like the courses for all of the cats will be using the same start/finish as the first stage of the Tour of MO.
