Give me your opinions on these ideas to try and head off some of the problems seen last year at this time.

1. Perhaps one person should be responsible for creating a thread for the current days stage. I believe it was stage 15 last year that featured no less than three seperate threads.

2. All stage thread titles should contain the word spoiler. "Lance wins TT! *Spoiler Alert*" will not work though.

3. If you don't want to know the results of the days stage, avoid threads with spoiler warnings.

Yes as a courtesy please include the "Spoiler"

Actualy I will not post a single thing nor I think will I even come into the racing forum. Most of my TDF will be through TIVO so I don't even want to see thread titles.

Egads! Multiple threads! What's next? The plague of locusts? :D

It does get annoying when everyone feels compelled to create a thread on the same subject... and half the time, they post it in the wrong forum. Hopefully people will be more considerate and not be as rude as to make the mods have extra work around here.

I think that the problem often occurs when a bunch of people come in at the same time (like right after they finish watching the ticker on cyclingnews.com) and want to talk about the day's stage. Thus multiple threads get started simultaneously. In order to prevent this, I suggest that some industrious forum member start a thread (or maybe 2, spoiler and non-spoiler) a couple hours before each stage begins. I'll nominate Laggard, if he doesn't have any objections.

I've suggested to Joe (forum admin) that we start a subforum in racing for
TdF related threads. If we do I will post threads for each stage
i.e. TdF stage 1. that we can post thoughts feelings warm fuzzies, i told you sos etc.
Also no spoilers in the thread title but once you read the thread all bets are off.

I agree.. one person should be incharge of starting the stage thread for the day... like

**Stage 1--Liege to Wherever**

And then post spoilers and whatever inside the thread...

If there is a sub-forum set up, you'll go ahead and immediately make threads for each stage?

That's a great idea as it allows early discussion of certain pivotal stages. e.g. 13

I had the same idea  but why do we need a sub-forum, just create the threads here today.

With all the other activity, they'll get seperated/lost, etc.

How would you like to see this setup? I am open to any suggestions.

The problem is that anyone can and most likely will post TDF stuff in who knows the Fixie forum for instance?

I like the idea of pre designated threads to allow folks to decide to go or not to go into the discussion. Thread titles are an issue too b/c they can instantly destroy your hard day at work ;) Like I said before I am gonna play it safe and stay out of the forums till I at least have seen the stage. Anyhoo me 2 cents

Create the stage threads with spoiler the day before each day and then all will know.
And if anyone does creates multiples........then I say, lop off their heads

I'm thinking that when we open the sub forum there are already threads for each
stage. Any posts elsewhere can be merged into that days threads.
The forum would be open to other general threads (i.e. who was that in the
Discovery Channel bus with lance type threads :D ).
If the threads are already set, no spoilers.

just a thought.
