Dunkin' Donuts recently opened up shop here in Shanghai. Just went to check it out. I'm now eating something called a "Rousing Donut", which is a plain doughnut with bits of seaweed and sweet shredded pork (also known as "meat floss") on top. I've had and enjoyed doughnuts, seaweed and even meat floss before, but I'm not sure this is a match made in heaven. It's certainly rousing something within me... :twitchy:

So you are basically eating fried bread with seaweed and sweet pork...

Sounds delightful.

When I was in Japan a few years ago I bought what I foolishly assumed was a normal jam donut from a local bakery, later to discover to my horror that it was actually filled with bean paste :(

try adding some jam to it.

I've always found bread in some asian countries is sweeter and greasier than in europe.

Portugese sausage, scrambled eggs and rice. That's a Hawaiian fast-food breakfast.

Now that sounds delicious. I eat bacon drizzled with maple syrup on bagels or croissant, so I think I would like that artery-clogging, diabetes-inducing monstrosity.

This is kind of OT but here we have "JapaDog" which are just a couple of hot dog stands downtown which server Japanese-style hot dogs. They're freaking awesome. You can get seaweed, miso, wasabi etc on your dog. :D

Proud to say I have not tried any of these, ummm, delicacies. There is a local ice cream shop though that makes unique flavors like Chipotle Chocolate, or my favorite, Peanut Butter Coffee :)
