Cyclocross - Cheap(er) carbon forks direct from China?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Forks sold direct by a manufacturer on ebay. Said (gossiped!) to be half the (UK) price of similar branded forks, possibly. Discussion:

These people do a BIG range of forks - I was even tempted to order their 1 inch steerer carbon forks for my 1988 cromolly Lava Dome, but then I remember I bought it because it's all-steel and I'm not a weight weeny and got some control back...

I know I'm stereotyping, and it sucks, but I lived in China and with the amount of scamming that I saw, unfortunately, I would not trust anything coming "direct from china" and I would never buy anything on ebay from someone if I knew it was being shipped from someone in China. It sucks, I know. But something I can't help. They do all kinds of crap and sell it as the real thing. I'd be careful. Especially on deals that seem too good to be true. While I lived there, I was even skeptical that the stores in the real malls was real. I'm not a skeptical person but again, first hand experience and knowingly being lied to in front of my face, even when I have 100% proof of something, multiple occasions (almost every).. i know there are non scammer chinese trying to make a living but for every one good guy, there are 1000 bad.. i personally would say for every 1, there are a million bad.. haha.. unfortunate, but.. if you do, hope it works, but I 100% would not.
not sure why this is in the cross forum. looks like only one fork there that would be appropriate for cross, and it's not especially cheap or light

for what it's worth, I've been using these on my 26" snglespeed, and they seem fine to me. Ride just as nicely as my old Pace RC31's.
To get this back on topic, I also bought some Karbona cross forks, which were a lot cheaper than the big name forks, and these also seem good for the money. They've taken a lot of abuse so far (my bikes aren't jsut saved for race day), but are not very light at 752g (on my kitchen scales, uncut steerer)

They seemed cheap to me, but UK prices can be appalling.

i see, being in the UK is a complication. this is probably the best deal on a carbon cross fork in the US that i know of. don't know what nashbar's overseas charges are

$65 less than the one at the ebay store with coupon, and sometimes on sale for cheaper. weight is pretty much the same too

I would only buy from a named a place like Nashbar who ought to be able to do some quality control on their source. However Mattel didnt do the necessary quality control for their toys and received toys with lead based paints.
