Foo - Like you're singing in the shower

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm watching a Death Cab for Cutie Soundstage right now, and it occurs to me why they grab people.
For the same reason other singers that sounded really amateurish at first eventually grab you, then they wind up with millions of rabid fans.
• Bob Dylan
• Neil Young
Two more classic examples. There's something haunting about their voices, they sound like ordinary people, like you or me, singing in the shower. Add the great songwriting/lyrics, and they wind up slaying you, really getting to you in ways other artists don't.
I'm sure there are other examples, but that's real musical artistry. When you can't sing worth a friggin damn, and you create music that just slays people. That my little Foo Weenies is true musical genius, and you won't see it on American Idol.
By the way, I could give **** if you disagree with this, and if you try to yell at me the iPod will be cranked, so don't even bother.

A great deal of popular music from the 60's and 70's reflected that rootsy, natural quality. Just like pubic hair of the day.
Did I really say that?

I'd pass on the Cervelo anyway. Too namebrandy for me. Cable routing issues. Lance doesn't ride one.

You can win a Cervelo in that contest on Versus. They're giving away an S2 like mine.
Good luck.

Miley and Britney can't sing and they're making a fortune too.
Rod Stewart and Janis Joplin have rough voices - I like their music a lot.
And don't forget The Moldy Peaches

For 3 years I played that Versus game and never won a car or a bicycle. I never win anything like that. Even when I win (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=558106&highlight=Ringo+Starr) I don't win.
