Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Visiting SF next week; where to ride?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey ya'll! I'm going to be visiting SF in a few days with a 48/16. I've always wanted to ride through the Ferry Building and am a little tempted.

Any suggestions on where to ride? Restaurants to grab lunch at?

The ferry building is PACKED with people. You can barely walk through it.

If you want a fun hill with a payoff, climb to to parking lot at the Coit Tower. Not the toughest hill in SF, but close to the Embarcadero.

I suggest riding the Embarcadero, from under the bay bridge to the Golden Gate, then across to the Marin headlands, and down into Sausalito... just once. Its a typical tourist's route, but its not a poor one. I've wanted to the the west-side coastline, too.

If you're near San Bruno, San Bruno Mtn is climbable fixed from the west side, but the east side is pretty brutal.

48x16: you may want to check this (to avoid the hilly parts):

I wonder if youre talking about this place: http://www.yelp.com/biz/java-beach-cafe-san-francisco

Its more of a coffee place that serves good sandwhiches, though. BBQ chicken is my favorite there too! About six blocks from my house. Great place to chill. Free wifi.

coffee shop meaning you walk your bike there, park it out front, talk to other people wearing v necks...discuss your next sewing and/or graphic design (more than likely t shirt) idea over an ice moca late with whipped cream and caramel?

If you're going a Sunday Streets day (the next one is early August), definitely check it out: http://sundaystreetssf.com/

Maybe the place you guys are talking about is Beach Chalet: http://www.beachchalet.com/

Have fun in SF. I must moved from there recently and I miss it like crazy.
