Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Italian Lightweight

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
bought this bike impulsively. unfortunately it is 56cm and too big (see my poor seat perched almost on the frame). i have tried thinking of ways to make it work (smaller wheels - shorter cranks?). Also, i've been hunting for other bikes like this and have not found much about vintage olympias', minus a few old threads on bikeforum.

That looks like a pretty nice bike. Olympia is the second-oldest bike brand in Italy, behind Bianchi. This bike is later than Olympia's heyday, but as I say, it's still looks pretty nice, and fairly distinctive, too. Cool.
Hi F26BP! I have your bike's twin. I've owned it since new: bought it in 1972 from the Charlie's Bike Shop in Eastchester, NY where I then worked. We were the sole importers of Olympias, so unless it was brought over from Italy by an individual it was originally sold by us. Like yours, mine is 56 cm. If you want more info about Olympias, I may be able to help you. As far as fit goes, you can't fit much smaller wheels because the brakes won't reach. I don't think shorter cranks would help much either. How tall are you? Also, where did you find this beautiful bike?
