Great Lakes - Great Michigander this year.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Just returned from the week long Michigander Bicycle Tour. This year's route was a circle ride across mid-Michigan on roads and rail trails. The weather was perfect, except for an hour's worth of rain on Wednesday.
I rode it all on my Trek Madone 5.5. There are now routes for fat tires and skinny tires.
It's amazing now how well-developed those rail trails have become. They are almost like an Interstate system for cycling.
I've posted pics and ride reports on my http://BikeFitness.net blog
Looks like it was a great ride.
I didn't know they had a route for road bikes. How many roadies were there?

They've had an all-pavement option for road bikes the last couple of years. This year, most of the rail-trails were paved, so there was no need to go out on the highways. Also, many of the unpaved trails were pretty rough, so a lot of hybrid and even MTB riders opted for the paved bypasses.
It's hard to come up with a number, but there were quite a few who were on pure road bikes, and even more who were doing the road thing on their hybrids.

How come it is that i never hear or read about this stuff in advance? The only rides I ever hear about are the M/S 150 and the DALMAC. Is there anything else I am not being told about?

Geez, we camped overnight at your Rockford H.S., had coney dogs and beer at the Corner Bar, ... This event has been going on for about 19 years now. http://www.michigantrails.org
Also dissapointed that I didn't hear about this event... I just need to search the net and pop into my LBS more. I'm just 15 minutes from Rockford :(
Try this for alot of organized rides in michigan
