I am in the process of converting my dad's old Ross from the 1980's into a fixed gear. My question is, should I treat this frame as if I were going to paint a car? We have a well equipped shop with just about every imaginable tool for bodywork, and my dad has spent many years restoring cars. I plan on painting it a deep red color we have left over from one of our previous projects, and it will look excellent on this lugged steel frame. I also plan on doing a base coat/clear coat, and as of now I have completely stripped all the old paint off the frame and ground off the cable stops. Will it be necessary to do anything more than give it a final sanding and apply a few coats of primer, sanding in between each coat to remove any scratches? Thanks for the help.
