I was looking around online for some pics of big drops but couldn't find anything good. Does anyone have some pics of stuff Bender has done? Or anyone else who does that crazy crap. Please post those pics.

As for a huge pic, a year ago Specialized had an awesome pic of Matt Hunter(?) on its website. It should be on my computer somewhere. I think someone here has it as their avatar....

Not big per se. But one of the harder drops on the shore considering it is to an insignifigant tranny.

I've never rode stuff like that. But I've always wanted to.

Maybe I am mistaken. I remember reading something about an injury...but can't find any info.

I've never rode stuff like that. But I've always wanted to.

Fun stuff. Has its own level of adrenaline. I haven't rode a skinny this year though, really disapointed in myself.

FoX Rider
06-29-04, 10:32 PM
I've seen people do it. Only in the videos my friend has (he's got Quick & Dirty and Kranked 5) But the skinny stuff looks very tough. And lots of it is elevated like 5-10 ft. from the looks of it. So that stuffs not for me.

Maelstrom
06-29-04, 10:33 PM
Some of it is. For the most part 5 ft is about the limit for an average trail. I have a trail here that gets to 4 or 5 in one section. I gotta get some pics. But like I said I just haven't done any this year...

Try and find a series called NSX (1 to 5) it is a good price. 5 hours of movies, but shows how the shore evolved. Very cool series.

There isn't much to do here in my little town. So I really wanna have a road trip with some of my friends next summer and go to some nice mountains. WITH shuttles. I hate hiking up with 40lbs. for 30 minutes for a 3 minute ride. Almost not worth it.

Maelstrom
06-29-04, 10:43 PM
Hahaha...not to brag but I hop on a lift to MID mountain and I have 15 minutes of dh...I go from MID to top and i can probably DH for .... 35 minutes or so. If you are serious about a road trip you can't NOT hit whistler and the shore.

Wow, i'd be really cool if I didn't live in New Hampshire. This is gonna end up being a vacation type thing. Thats to much gas money for a road trip. Stupid gas prices getting up to $2.50 in some states. Would be cheaper to fly.

FoX Rider
06-29-04, 10:52 PM
Maybe I should go to college in Vancouver.

Maelstrom
06-29-04, 10:53 PM
Hahaha... so fly ;)...

I don't know where new hampshire is but if I assume east? If so I would check out Diablo and Platekill in a second.

We have a few universities...a killer tech college. Definately some options. Or do what another buddy of mine did. Go to school in Bellingham and live in the best of both worlds. WA and BC :D

FoX Rider
06-29-04, 10:56 PM
Yes, very east. Where are Diablo and Platekill located?

Maelstrom
06-29-04, 10:58 PM
Diablo is in NJ

Yes, I'm deffinatly going to have to have a road trip up/over there! Hopefully find a nice hotel and go riding for a week or so. Probably until I run out of money.

Huge to flat fer me is 5....feet, not meters. I ride slow in the woods, fast to get there.

Maelstrom

Damn u all lol.... Its not fair, i Hate GBR... there are no skinnies over here, just loadsa single track, its very rare that u find any northshore style stuff over here, and the single track is starting to bore me.....

As for Klien, he never says anything useful, i dont see the point in him even being on this forum... all he ever does is make wise ass comments, or put people down... pointless....

I'm looking for it. Its not at the LBS so if anyone finds it online lemme know!

I was wondering, does anyone else hate waiting for stuff to arrive in the mail. Stuff like UPS, FedEx and stuff like that? I'm waiting for my helmet and pads. Its annoying. But i'll be happy when they get here. I was wondering if anyone else hated waiting for stuff like that.

Damn people, all of those drops are things you normally need repelling equipment to go down. I'm all about it though, rock on for being so brave.

FoX Rider
06-30-04, 04:47 PM
I've never done anything in those pictures and probably won't ever do any of those. The people in the pics are pro's or close to it.

Maelstrom

I know guys close to that range. I am no where near it. (the wood thing wouldn't be hard)

i was reading some review of one of the heartier santa cruz bikes on mtbr.com and there was a guy that said he did a 65ft drop... i think. i sometimes wonder if some of the drops are under measured.

Maelstrom
07-01-04, 10:22 AM
Not a chance. Would have made it all over the news. And mtbr is known for being totally innacurate for..well..everything. When the guy was thinking of dropping 83 ft it made it into papers, e-zines..everywhere. If anything people over measure.

Biggest tried - 54 ft Jah Drop
Biggest landed - mid 40's

Mael do you have a pic of the jaw drop?

Maelstrom
07-01-04, 01:43 PM
I have been looking. I have like 7 vids with the drop in it.

Found one

Doesnt show it very well. But you can see Benders launch point. He tried 11 times and failed every time.

Where is the takeoff point? Please tell me it's not in the center of that HUGE cut? ! ? !

Maelstrom
07-01-04, 03:18 PM
Its almost dead centre. You can kind of see a sloped lip near the middle.

FoX Rider
