I would just get one of those universal money cards- a pre-loaded card with a set limit. If it gets compromised, I'm just out the $ and not the $$ in the bank account(s).

That's the only way I'd ever order from those idiots again.

When I had an upright bike I upgraded it to trekking bars and it was a HUGE improvement over the flat bar and bar ends it used to have. If you're not going to go with drop bars, then trekking bars are the next best thing.

Yup...the only order I placed with Nashbar in the past 2 years was phoned in and my card was one of quite a few that was compromised. I have about switched over to cash and money orders. I have had a total of 5 cards compromised this year, with one of them (the company Visa card) having been compromised TWICE!!:twitchy:

If you feel insecure using your credit or debit card for online purchases use a visa gift card.If you have a local Giant Eagle grocer, buy a visa gift card, get the fuel perks points. Buy your wares at Nashbar and save a few cents on gas.

You could even send a check. Takes a couple of days to clear, but that's not such a big deal.

So, if one is comfortable doing business with Nashbar (I'll use a one time use number), what about the bars? Only had my bike (Trek FX 7.3) for two weeks, but I wouldn't mind getting some additional hand spots. Would this be a fairly straight forward install for me? Just need some bar tape and I'm good? Should I get (different) grips too? Search engine has kinda helped me, but...

Oh yeah - the stock-grips on the FX-series will make your hands go numb in less than a mile. I use Ergon GC2 grips. Or the less expensive one's that have the same shape to keep the nerves from getting pinched. I would also recommend some gloves with padding for your ulnar and medial nerves.

I don't know about the grips on the Trekking bar - but yes to the straight bar that came with your 7.3 FX.

The grips have been the biggest single disappointment of my bike, even with gloves. So, yea...

I did just place an order w/ Nashbar for some Ergon GP1's (and other goodies) as I try to figure out the trekking bar. From what I've seen searching old threads, the GP1's should also fit on the trekking bar.

your stuck brakes, shifters, and grips finish it off nice since a pack of bar tape covers all but where your grips and shifters go

Oh yeah - those will help. They're the same as the more expensive GC2 grips. Only difference is the GC2's have 'horns.'

Good eye.

That's the longest Nashbar stem that they sell, I think it's around 130mm or 135mm. Because how the trekking bar moves the gear and brake levers towards you, I think it's a good idea to use a longer stem to compensate for this change.
