Introductions - Heya from Seattle

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey there BikeForums Users,
I'm Matthew, I'm in Seattle, I ride bikes! I've been riding casually for about 10 years but this summer has been a serious renaissance of biking for me. I currently have a Soma Rush and a Surly CrossCheck. Been riding both for a few years though until this summer the Rush saw more love. In the past biking has been primarily about commuting and exploring the city. Being gainfully unemployed though, I have had loads of time to start riding farther, longer, and faster. I'm having a blast, lost all the weight I put on while working at MS this past year, and am seriously considering training to race next season.
I've been lurking in the forums for awhile. Bikeforums has been a great source of information (years back it helped me decide on the Surly when I decided on a Steel Horse) and I figure it is time to come out of the woodwork and make myself known.

Hi Matthew!
Have you found the PNW regional forum? What part of Seattle do you frequent? There's a lot of us from the Puget Sound area here (including yours truly).
Welcome to BikeForums!

Thanks! I have found the regional sections, in fact I registered in order to pick the brains of other riders in the area for new routes. I live right down town and often do loops either north or east. I'll be doing the Burke-Gilman / Sammamish River / I-90 loop either tomorrow or Monday for the first time.

Cool!
Have you tried the Cedar River Trail yet?

I haven't heard of that one, where does it run?

It runs from the Cedar River Boathouse on Lake Washington all the way out to Maple Valley.
Cyclists aren't allowed on the first mile nearest the lake, but it's relatively easy to get through Renton to get onto the trail starting by the library/Liberty Park.
