The other day I was in my local grocery store perusing the magazine rack when i happen upon this little magazine called "Bike Times", I grabbed up a copy and was very pleased with the content.

Apparently it is published by the same people that make "Dirt Rag" and is geared toward commuters/utilitarian/Non-Racing cyclists. It had some good advocacy content, good reviews(not ads) of a range of cycling gear and some bikes, some good articles.

One i particularly enjoyed was called "Confessions of a Hill Climber". I picked up issue number 2 and i think it is a 4 times a year publication...

Just Thought I would Throw it out there as i would like to see more of this mag in the future.

I signed up online for a subscription on a deal which should have included sending me the then-current issue 2 to me. I'm still waiting.

Do you have a link to this critter? I'm intrigued and Google had zip in the right direction.

BUMP this thread if need be - until you find a link. Thanks!

It's published by the people who publish "Dirt Rag;" you might find a link at their site.

If you liked "Bike Times," you might also like a magazine published out of Vancouver called "Momentum." Free in some bike shops around the Pacific NW, but available (via PDF, I think) on their website.

Bicycle Times seems a decent magazine. I subscribed but have yet to receive a subscription copy.

Issue one had an interesting article on rainwear. Something of special interest to those of us in the Pacific Northwest.

Issue two wasted pages on an article about revamping an old bike. "Wasted" is probably the wrong word as it might be of interest to other people.

The one real gripe that I have is that information/specification boxes are printed in white on a very light gray field. Nice as graphics but very difficult to read for those of us with less than perfect vision.

my bad for calling it bike times... i have a tendency to mis-word things like that.

Yeah, well, different strokes and all that. The bike overhaul article was my favorite one in the issue. The "Hill Climber" story referenced by the OP was not one that I found particularly enjoyable!

Anyway, I like the magazine and will probably subscribe. I also subscribe to Dirt Rag, though I am not primarily interested in off-road riding. Ironically, I initially subscribed to Dirt Rag because of their non-mountain biking articles and reviews. It seems that this content is now winding up in Bicycle Times and Dirt Rag is just about, well, dirt!
