Foo - Starting to get worried about my family

There are some large forest fires very close to where my sister and my parents live. They live near Kelowna, British Columbia. I haven't been able to get hold of them by phone, skype or email. I have a feeling they have been evacuated along with 10,000 others according to the local news.

When the brush fires were going in San Diego, the Red Cross allowed people to post information if they were at an evacuation shelter. You might try looking to see if they have the same thing going.

Finally got hold of my mom by phone. They're still in their house but on evacuation alert. It turns out my sister and family are on a short driving trip and won't be home until tomorrow. Hopefully they'll have a house to come back to. The fire is right at the edge of their neighborhood. Luckily my parents were able to retrieve the important financial papers from my sister's home yesterday, along with some other valuables.

Here's a pic looking out from my parents house. Somewhere in that smoke is my sister's home. They're scheduled to come back from vacation today. They may be in for a bit of a surprise :(
