Road Cycling - Tour de France in US TV stations

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi, I am from Germany and on a business travel during the Tour de France time.
I have no idea if there will be a live coverage of the races in the US television and if, which TV station will cover live the races?
Would be nice to get a tip.

Outdoor Life Network is the only station carrying full coverage, so far as I know.

heres some links that may be helpful
OLN home page:
http://www.olntv.com/default.asp
the cycling section of the web site, includes a link to the broadcast schedule.

OLN is a cable station im not sure if most hotels will have it or not, but depending on your level of interest it may be worth asking.
it probably wont be shown in most public places like bars.
this may be worth looking into also

they are going to be showing stage 13 live in some movie theatres for the tyler hamilton foundation. could be cool to see a stage on a big screen.
hope you enjoy your trip :)

Ok thanks a lot - last year I had to watch dog long jump on ESPN and I was very shocked that this is more interessting than the fight betwenn Ullrich and Amstrong.
ummm, hate to tell yah mate but if you haven't noticed, most americans are more concerned with eating and nascar then cycling...just the way it is...

Sad but true. However, I wonder if this will change. What was the turnout for the TdG? What's the turnout like for the SFGP? I'm sure they equalled if not rivalled any single major US sporting event held in a stadium. But then again, onsite can be much different than TV viewership.

-That's not going to be much to watch this year, what with the labrador doping scandal. ;)

If you can't get access to OLN, you can follow Le Tour on www.letour.com. There is a daily live audio feed, and brief video highlights posted daily. A high speed connection is pretty much a must though.
