Road Bike Racing - Armstrong vs Anquetil

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
This is one of the more interesting articles I've read about
Lance vs every previous TdF winner.
It isn't so much as LA vs JA but a comparison of the two.
Interesting insights into Lance vs Jan towards the end.

Nice article and a good point made about Lance having the hunt and kill attitude that Jan seems to lack.
I remember Lance saying that Jan was the most talented rider in the world. It's Lance's mindset that seems to put him at the top.

He's said that every time he's gone up against Jan, along with Lance just about every cycling "expert" seems to agree. That Jan has just an immense amount of natural talent and that is what has gotten him through all these Tour's. While Lance is out there riding all the key stages 5 times, spending hundreds of hours in the wind tunnel, basically doing anything and everything to prepare Jan is being a lot more laid back about the deal.
If that's correct I could see Jan being very Indurain like during the race if he could get himself to "100%", holding on in the mountains and absolutely crushing the competition in the time trials (everybody remembers Mig putting 3+ minutes on the field in one TT) which he is most suited for.
I'd love to see this coming Tour come down to Lance and Ullrich with an almost dead heat between them before the last ITT, sort of like last year, but without the silly course and bad weather.
