I don't care about Harry Potter, but how can there be an R-rated version that is only 98 minutes in addition to the PG-rated version that is 170 minutes?

I Googled and can't find a thing. And this is the Mall of America movie theater, not the movie rack at the local p0rn shop.

P.S. Wife and I went to see Harry Potter with some ancident grad school friends. I know for a fact we saw the PG-rated, 170-minute version as there were two 9 year olds behind us narrating the whole movie, and it was definitely 170 minutes long--felt more like 470 minutes long if you ask me...

I am pretty sure that someone did a misstype and posted the info for Bruno rather than Harry Potter. Bruno is also 98 mins long and rated R.

That's weird. I never heard of another R-rated version. Why is it so much shorter?

Certainly could be, but there is a separate listing for Bruno, and Harry Potter, 170-minutes, PG, was in the D-box theatre. Those darn chairs made the whole theater shake, and we were 25 rows away from them.

The reason I think this is odd is because I was talking to a co-worker of a co-worker who also "knew" of the R-rated version, but they couldn't elaborate.
