I got to test ride a felt f60 yesterday and I absolutely loved it! good thing they only had a 56cm (i need a 58cm ) or else i would've bought it on the spot. the thing just wants to move. now i just need to try a cannondale r600 and I think I might get a chance to check out a 2003 lemond alpe d'huez. one of the bikes i got to try was a used ironhorse triumph (steel). didn't like it as much as the felt, but i'm guessing the poorer ride was due to the used condition/low end components and not the steel. the thing just didn't seem that responsive.

i just have misgivings about how brittle the carbon fiber seatstays are, how reliable the alum/cf interface is, and the 3 year warranty on the bike.

anyone have any real world help regarding the durability of steel, aluminum and carbon fiber (leave the elastic moduli, non-recoverable stress, etc. at home)? thanks.
