Hi everybody

There is a bike that I am thinking of buying as my first road bike. I dont know much about bikes so I was wondering if anyone here could give me there opinion of this bike and how much it may be worth. This is the information given about the bike: "ALL Original and in excellent condition, rides excellent, Lucky seven sprocket, 5 speed rear cassete, S-6 Wheels trued and no rust, nice original paint saddle and fenders, Bow peddals, new tires and tubes, also cables and tape, to make Ride ready today. Made in Chicago"

Here are some pictures...

I doubt that those drop bars are original. I don't think the Suburban ever came with them as an options and if it had, it would not been sold with the matress saddle.

Other than that, Suburbans were pretty far down the Schwinn line up. They have some nicer features for a Schwinn like a tubular fork, 27" wheels, high-flange hubs and a nicer saddle.

I would put it at 100.00 if it truly is ride ready, that includes fresh grease. I knocked off a little price wise because of the handlebars, that looks very uncomfortable mixed with that saddle.

What city are you in, that makes a huge difference.

The bars on a Suburban should look like this:

$50 to $75 around here, your market could be better. Very little/no interest in Suburbans here. I picked one up for $8.

Yep... that's about right. You mention "first road bike". If you expect to do any kind of "fast" riding, get something else. This bike probably weighs about 40 pounds... maybe just a little less.
