Are cogs/chainrings chain size specific? Ie. are there different cogs/chainrings for 1/8" vs 3/32" chains? Thanks! :p

there are two sizes: 1/8 and 3/32.
you can run a 1/8 chain on any hardware. you can run a 3/32 chain only on 3/32 hardware.

Ideally you'd want to run the appropriate sized cog and chainring with the respective sized chain. time bandit is right though, as far as compatibility.

I asked because a lot of cogs and chainrings I see online dont specify if they are for a certain chain size, but Ive seen other posts around here talking about chain size specific cogs/chainrings.
Just to make sure - I plan to run a 1/8" chain, so I can buy any cog/chainring, right?

yes but you might as well go for the 1/8" cog and chainring as well, they are common enough
